~*~Who Are You?~*~[/u]
Full Name: ethan aaron flowers (nee bennett)
Age: 22
Birthdate: July 10, 1987
Birthplace: Las Vegas, Nevada
Hometown: Preston, Maryland
Picture:
Height & Weight:
Just shy of 6 foot in height. In regards to weight, one could say he's more on the thin and lanky side. Many have told him his figure is just fine, though he is very self-conscious of how thin he is. He's the type that can eat a lot and not gain a pound (fast metabolism). He also isn't the most 'ripped' sort given that he isn't one to be much into athletic activity. But he tries to be fairly toned in regards to arms, legs, and abs - this conditioning is done with kickboxing and weightlifting - though his endurance in athletics isn't really great - like in terms of lung capacity and such.
Hair Color:
Brown, often medium-to-short in length. In hair texture, it is straight, and slightly on the spiked side when stylized (though not gelled-spike). One could say his hair is more along the 'emo' style in the way that his bangs often drape over one eye, though he'd hardly call it 'Emo.' He claims it's a look that screams him, and is known to occasionally let his hair grow longer to the medium length. Though lately, it's been more-or-less shorter. In the way his hair frames his face, it's almost as it's some perfect fit for the facial shape as he has a somewhat more fine construction of a face.
Eye Color:
His eyes are brown in color, often giving off this appearance of 'puppy dog eyes.' Perhaps that's why he masks these wide-eyed innocent expressions that he uses often when fooling around and having a good time with friends. Sometimes, he has a tendency to reach for the eyeliner, though often for musical performances (local ones of course, though he hopes to make it into the big times one day). Sometimes during the day, he reaches for the lighter eye makeup, though he loves to go all out for occasional performances.
Physical Description:
Ethan is definitely categorized along the tall and slender side of things. He has managed to keep himself toned and not looking sickly by means of this hobby of kickboxing, an idea that was placed into his head when he first had gotten into the public eye, as 'no person would idolize a sickeningly thin looking rock icon.' He has inquisitive brown eyes that seem to always give way of his mood. They contain a lively spark when he's in an excitable mood, though they become dull in those sullen moods. His eyes are probably the most prominent facial feature of his.
Play By: Ryan Ross
Style:
Favorite articles of clothing involve Hooded sweatshirts, Tshirts, and jeans. Though, there are those random occasions where he might dress up a bit, meaning dressy pants, or perhaps the occasional button-down shirt. He loves accessories, particularly fingerless gloves, scarves, and hats, and the occasional silly trinket that he might find, i.e. (usually to joke) gaudy huge sunglasses, etc. When performing music, he might go all out in costuming, those costumes tending to go along more cabaret-style of performance costume. Eye makeup is a particular favorite when in performance attire. There are some occasions where some simple makeup might be applied to his eyes on an everyday sort of style.
~*~All The Little Details~*~
Personality:
Outwardly initially, he is a serious individual, with much intellectual ability, which can explain why he has skipped a grade in school. When trying college, he keeps on top of studies, though he has a tendency to draw away into his own daze, lost in his thoughts. Perhaps an outsider might see this as some form of him being antisocial, but it is hardly that matter. Ethan is just one with a hard exterior who tries to show little or no emotion around outsiders in fear that someone might sense weakness in him. Though to allow a jump in his music career, he's put his college career on hold.
Inwardly, he is the artistic type, that definitely sees his present and future in music. He had long talked of such dreams and aspirations, though he feared extreme closeness to just anyone in fears of his dreams being stomped on, a feat he knew his father had tried to do since the very beginning. He has a tendency to be detached from society mainly because he knows little on how it's like to see compassion, being raised in a household where it's almost some sense of survival of the fittest. There is some sense of anger, sadness, and guilt to his persona, though it takes a very close person to distinguish the true reason behind that aspect
It took Ethan a while to break from that shell and open up to another, though in his final year of high school, Ethan met someone who had made him open up in an entirely new way. This new Ethan is more the extrovert around those in his 'familiar circle.' People in this 'circle' see Ethan as zany! He isn't afraid to make a total fool of himself, therefore doesn't hold back on a good time. He's serious and devoted- when he wants to be. Though he is constantly active, and not quite willing to let life get boring. Music is an absolute passion!
Orientation: homosexual (it took years to admit bisexuality, and even some time later to this point to realize that he was never really 'bi' but in fact 'homo.'

~*~Didn't Come From Nowhere~*~[/u]
Family:
l Mother l
Elaina Annette Worthington-Bennett - deceased
His mother died when he was two years old. He hardly remembers his mother, though claims that he could almost remember some sense of security from that early age. What is known is that she had become ill shortly after his birth, dying two years later, and that she was raised in the United Kingdom, coming to the United States when she was roughly sixteen years old. He doesn't like to dwell on the fact that his mother died so early in his life, perhaps because in some sense, he blames himself, some inner guilt that lurks about from time to time.
l Father l
Lt. Colonel (retired) Fredrick Ray Bennett
Ethan's father, a retired marine and war veteran. He is is a very alienated man who has a tendency to know more about a bottle of liquor than he does of his only child. There was the occasional moment where the two would quarrel, often resulting in Ethan having bruises which he covered up with his favorite choice of clothing... Hoodies. When he was seventeen, Ethan gave his father an ultimatum, emancipate him or he'd go to the cops with the information about the abuse. He emancipated his son. Since then, there are occasional run-ins, but there has long been a distant wedge between the two.
| Siblings |
He has no siblings, and often turns to his friends to be the siblings he never had.
| Other relatives |
+Spouse
William Flowers
Ethan's true love, someone he met his senior year of high school. In the spring vacation of their senior year, the two married in Canada, a place that upholds the law of 'same-sex marriage.' Even though the United States does not recognize this marriage, Ethan is adamant at upholding this marriage of theirs. Just because it's not on paper in the United States, doesn't mean that it isn't in mind and spirit and soul...
+Cousin
Andrew Ellison
He has a cousin who is one year older than him, though since he skipped a year in school, they were in the same grade. He often went to this cousin when needing some form of guidance as this person seemed to be the only one he can turn to when in need of advice, having more of an in-depth understanding about the abuse issue. This cousin is related by Ethan's mother's side (Ethan's aunt (mother of this cousin) is his mother's sister). Though, the year he met William and emancipated himself, Andrew came into some drug-related problems. There has been some sort of emotional wedge between the two since.
+Aunt
Cassandra Abigail Worthington-Ellison, aka "Aunt Cass"
This is Ethan's mother's last remaining blood relative, being her older sister. (other than her child). She, like her sister, was raised in the United Kingdom, being twenty years old when she came to the United States. (Yes she has a bit of an accent there) She is a physician who married a prominent attorney, so her family income is quite vast quite frankly.. She has but one child. She is a compassionate person, and the physician who has dealt with Ethan's problems, whether it be health problems, or the more serious injuries induced by her brother-in-law. She is quite protective of Ethan, so clearly, she and Ethan's father do not get along in the slightest. She notices that Ethan struggles from time to time, so she's always there, helping him up when he needs it the most. She sees much of her late sister in her nephew, and encourages him to behold his talents and ambitions. She divorced her husband, Charlie, about a year ago, following some affair she had with a close mutual friend of hers and William's
+Uncle
Charles James Ellison, aka "Uncle Charlie"
Father of Ethan's cousin and recent ex-husband of Aunt Cass. He is a prominent attorney who was also a close friend of Ethan's mother before he married Cass. He, too, is quite fond of his nephew, and understands the connection that his ex-wife has with him, and tries to help in all he can in any way. Even though Cass and Charlie are no longer married, Ethan still looks up to the guy in a special way.
History:
Ethan was born in Las Vegas, Nevada- though only lived there until he was four years old. Since then, he has moved at least five times. His father is a war veteran in the military, which could explain Ethan's discontent with anything military. In short, he doesn't get along with his father and would rather drop dead than to end up like him.
Ethan's mother died when he was two years old, as she fell ill shortly after he was born. He has no memories of his mother, but could swear that he remembers some sense of security of her presence somewhere in the deepest crevices of his memory. His father seems to somewhat blame Ethan for his mother's falling ill, given how soon she fell ill following his birth.
In addition to that matter, Ethan had always been along the sickly side (more along the fact that he suffers from asthma) of others his age, so he isn't exactly the epitome of masculinity that his ex-marine of a father was in his early days. Perhaps what adds to Ethan's guilt that he probably plagued his mother with illness is the fact that in drunken rages, his father tends to blatantly press the blame of her illness on him, having dropped Ethan's sense of self-respect for himself as this in essence hits some nerve.
Rather than being the boisterous male that belongs under the category of jock, Ethan has never been able to be the type to keep up in the strict athletic regime, so he's turned to other interests such as writing and the arts. He is quite good at writing poetry, and is quite the theatrical person. In addition, he possesses a passion and a great talent for music, primarily playing the guitar, with having a decent voice, though lacks confidence in his talent for singing. He enjoys to write poetry, convert them into lyrics, and write his own songs, a project that he often works on, hoping to one day make it into the big times in music.
This ambition for the arts is another place where father and son disagreed. His father saw this love for arts as more of a pansy-assed trait, and 'no son of his is going to end up some damned faggot pansy.' Though, it is revealed that Ethan's mother was quite the musician and dancer. Though Ethan isn't much of a dancer, music is definitely his one true ambition in life. In essence, he believes that through music, he keeps the memory of his mother in spirit, dedicating every whim to her memory. As Ethan's father disagrees with Ethan's ambition for music, he does little to fund Ethan's hobby. For this reason, Ethan started out employed at a music store, where with a decent salary and a great discount, he supplied his needs, being quite the self-sufficient teenager. His aunt was very supportive of this ambition for music, and still continues to support Ethan to this day, so she also tends to help him with what support he might need.
Senior year had made many changes in Ethan's life. It was this year when he had met William. It was also this year where he came out as bisexual. This did not work well between father and son. He was beaten nearly to death. As a result, when Ethan regained sufficient strength to go over to his father's home, he demanded to be emancipated. Spring break of senior year, he married his lover along the Canadian coastline of Ontario - at a place where this type of marriage was sanctioned.
Ethan was awarded a full-ride scholarship to NYU, where he studied for a year, double-majoring on music performance and creative writing. A month into his second semester, he started to get recognition for his musical endeavors. Pretty soon, he made his big break, coincidentally around the time that his husband had been getting recognition for male modeling. He decided to put college on old, and from then on, his music career skyrocketed within this band of friends he made either in college, or in high school through his job at Noteworthy - the local music store of Preston's.
Although at the age of nineteen, rising rockstar stardom was great, there were also habits that were picked up. As Ethan noticed his husband going through own personal break-downs of his own, he began to wrap himself up in his music, crawling back into this shell of his. He discovered alcohol in a new light, and unconsciously formed this addiction to alcohol and smoking, which started to take its toll on his health and mental-well being. A sense of self-loathing set in just as Ethan realized he was becoming what he dreaded and despised most - truly his father's son. He was twenty-one when it became blatantly obvious that there was a clear problem. He and his bandmates agreed that between albums (they released two) and tours (there had been two big tours) - a break for Ethan to seek out help to sort himself out - and a break from major spotlight while they continued to write lyrics on the side - was decided.
Ethan procrastinated seeking out help for about a year. Though, when it became evident that his own spouse was dealing with personal problems of his own, Ethan started to lean more on the alcohol to 'numb' him from reality. During his 22nd birthday party, Ethan had excused himself from the party, though a couple of hours had passed before people noticed that Ethan wasn't around. It was William who had gone up to check on his spouse, and he had found that Ethan had in some 'desperation to escape' fashioned some noose from bedsheets and had tried hanging himself by launching himself out the window. Though the sheet had become untied and Ethan had fallen two stories and succeeded to crack his skull in the fall, along with slipping disks, which went unnoticed until Ethan started to feel pain along his back. It took a couple surgeries and physical therapy to get him back to normal. Following this spell, it was most definitely decided that he'd pursue help alongside his spouse, who also has come forward that he wishes to overcome his own issues. The love of these two is strong, perhaps overcoming great obstacles as this could show them to be even stronger.

(oh my - Ethan was an angry teenager)
In a typical middle-class home, there seemed to be the usual shouts between father and son. This was nothing out of the ordinary for the Bennett family, as the two often found one another in these type of situations, especially when father seemed to be drunk off his ass. In the finale of the shouting match, there seemed to be a bit of destruction as some lamp happened to fall, probably in a struggle where son managed to escape from father but not without son being doubled over for a moment, catching his breath after a swift kick to the stomach. Though, this perhaps ended where his fist met his father's jaw, knocking him out temporarily. Meh, this was nothing new, he'd be up in a few hours, forgetting all that had happened by morning.
Ethan Bennett glared at the now blatantly snoring form of his father on the ground by the couch before turning around, storming up the stairs, the bathroom door slamming shut as he pulled off his shirt to reveal a mark that would soon form quite a bruise. He lightly pressed his hands against the swollen area, surprised that he hadn't had internal bleeding by now. "Drunken bastard," he hissed under his breath as he proceeded to remove the rest of his clothes, stepping into the shower to wash away the stench of spilled scotch from him. When finished with the shower, he stepped out, glancing at his reflection as he clung his towel around his waist. Shaking his head, he stormed out of the bathroom, and into his room, where the door slammed shut and then locked. He proceeded to get dressed before laying sprawled on his bed, trying to think of something to get his mind off things. He had about an hour to kill before he had to go to work.
Reaching for his trusty guitar which rested by his bed, he winced, noticing that his knuckles had been significantly bruised, probably in the impact on which he decked the old man. He seemed to erase every negative feeling as his fingers seemed to find the chords, moving along the frets as he sang softly, almost wishing that he could disappear, be any place but here. Then again, at least he could chill out at work for the next few hours. Business was usually dead these days, so he could just take his homework and chill out there. Perhaps he could volunteer to stay through closing, his manager knowing he was the type to never want to go home.
The time to get ready to go to work came, and Ethan happened to glance at his clock, placing his guitar back into its stand for the time being. He'd be back later to bask in his musical glory. For now, he had to make money, and also buy some replacement strings as he had a feeling one would break soon enough. He sullenly reached for his book bag, making sure his books were in tact. With a swift reach for his keys and wallet, he was out of his room. As he bounded down, he noticed the old man still out like a light, though snoring, a sign that he would wake up in a while. He picked up the half full bottle on the ground, carrying it out with him. "fucking drinks," he muttered, pouring it in some random plant before he tossed the glass bottle in the trash outside. He climbed into his car, one his aunt had bought him when he turned sixteen, despite the bitching of the old man. Turning on the ignition, he shifted gears, easing his foot off the brake so he could pull out of the driveway. In a blink of an eye, he pulled out and disappeared around the bend of a corner, heading to work, a pleasant getaway.
